May Long Weekend

Our May long weekend didn't involve our traditional first camping trip of the season, due to avoiding the crowds and the fact that there's a fire ban in Alberta right now...but there will be plenty more weekends for camping this summer.  The highlight of my weekend however, was getting out on the bikes.  I've been riding every day since Rob attached the Chariot to my bike.  A few months ago we traded in our old stroller for a chariot carrier to allow us to get out on the bikes and use it as a stroller as well.  It's been a great investment.

Ahhhh the sweet feeling of freedom.  Last year I was pretty tied down with my teeny little babies, but this summer will be much different.

It was a beautiful warm sunny Saturday, so we loaded the boys into the chariot and rode the paved trail into town.  It was my first time biking the trail to town and I was so impressed by the beauty of it. It gave me a whole new appreciation for the gorgeous mountain town I live in.

We worked up a bit of an appetite after the journey in, so we picked up some goodies at our favourite cafe and headed for River Side Park.  We had a nice little picnic and then met up with some friends.

Looking forward to more days like this.

A Cozy Day

Last week while the grass soaked up the rain outside, I soaked up some lovin' from my boys as we shared some cuddles and had a nice cozy day inside.

And it wouldn't be a cozy day inside without books...

Enjoy the weekend!

The Beginnings Of A Summer Quilt

I have a feeling we'll be spending lots of time outside this summer at the park or the beach or having picnics.  So I figured we needed just the right quilt to take along for such occasions. The other night while the babes were fast asleep, I started this little beauty.  I love the colours together.

I'll report back when it's done.

Have a good day!

Fun In The Sun

The sun has been shining down on us this week.  We've been loving every minute of it and enjoying all the things that the warm weather brings...

Bare feet, shorts and picnic's in the park...

Dipping our toes in the water...

June and Casey testing the waters.

Bike rides in the mountains...

Slurping up some tasty watermelon...

And we're just getting started!

Hope everyone is getting out and having some good times in the sun!

Mother's Day

My very first Mother's Day was simply wonderful.  I felt like the luckiest Mom in the world.  It started off with a nice surprise when I came downstairs; pretty flowers, a card, a balloon and a nice digital frame playing pictures of me and the boys.

The boys had lots of fun playing with the balloon.

Then we went out for breakfast at my favourite breakfast spot.

Breakfast with my babes. Liam (left) Casey (right)

It was a bit of an on-and-off rainy day, so in the afternoon we took a drive to Banff.  We found a nice spot up on Tunnel Mountain and decided to stop for a little roadside cook out while there was a break in the rain.  I  made stew the other day, so we cooked up some left overs while the boys napped in the van.  It's my favourite way to enjoy left over stew...it just tastes better cooked on a coleman stove, in the fresh air, on top of a mountain.

And to top off my Mother's Day, I'm told I get to sleep tonight...but we'll see about that.

Wishing my Mom a Happy Mother's Day as well.  I wouldn't be the Mom I am today if it weren't for you being the most amazing Mom for me.  Thank you!

And Happy Birthday to my sister Jenny too! :)

A Brunch And A Bolder

It was a great Saturday.  We hosted a lovely brunch potluck; a new tradition our group of friends have started. It works out great for us folks that have babies (mornings are less crazy than evenings).  The spread consisted of scrambled eggs with roasted veggies, oatmeal pancakes with strawberries and whip cream, turkey sausages, banana bread and a beautiful fruit platter...and lets not forget about the sangria's to wash it all down with.  Mmmm....

The rain held off, so in the afternoon we grabbed our climbing shoes and  headed to the school playground that has a great little climbing wall.  Yes, I know we're a little old to be playing on a playground, but this climbing wall is actually pretty impressive.  We had a fun little boulder session and a suprisingly good work out too.

After a while the boys had enough of sitting and watching us climb...

So we gave them a try too.  I think we have two little climbers in the making.

Such a fun day!  :)

Replacement Rob

Rob has been away in Edmonton taking a course for work this week, so my friend Chloe has stepped in to take his place.  Chloe just got back from a 6 month adventure in Australia and needed a place to stay, which worked out well for me because I wasn't looking forward to a week on my own with two teething babies.

Chloe's been doing a great job as "Replacement Rob"...except instead of watching hockey she does things like wash the dishes and fold the laundry.  She's a keeper...but don't worry Rob, I still missed you.

Hope everyone has a lovely Mother's Day weekend!
