Autumn Has Fallen Upon Us

Last weekend we took full advantage of two beautiful autumn days.  The colours aren't quite at their peak yet but it's getting close.  Fall in the mountains doesn't last long (just like summer) so you really have to soak up everyone ounce of it while it's here.

On Saturday we loaded up the bikes and the chariot and headed to Kananaskis.  There are some really great paved bike trails out there that we've been wanting to ride all summer but hadn't until now.  It was the perfect way to enjoy the colours.

The trail led us to the beautiful Wedge Pond, so we stopped for a snack and a play before making our way back.

Sunday was another super nice fall day.  We went for a hike to check out the views from above.

Then we had a lovely little picnic in the park and met up with our friends Manny, Elaine and Cody who drove out from Calgary for the day.

Playing the Ball Ladder game...Casey loved it.

Back At 'Er

Last week was our frist week at work.  It's going to take a little getting used to but I think once we're on the routine it will be good.  Before I went on mat leave I was working five days a week at the Rec Centre's day care room along with filling in at the front desk.  For the sake of the boys I'm easing back into the whole work thing again and will only do three days a week for now with them along with a few shifts a month at the front desk. It's the perfect job for my situation.  I can bring the boys with me (minus the front desk shifts).  They get to play and I get paid, it's a win - win.

The only window in the room looks out to the hockey rink...they loved watching.

Summer's Still Here

Even though the leaves are beginning to turn already and fall is just around the corner, summer in Canmore is going out with a bang.  We've been lovin' the "blue blazers" (Rob's term for a hot- not a cloud in the sky- day).  Yesterday the boys and I took advantage and met up with our friends at the local swimming hole.

Fairmont Hot Springs

Last week we went on another mini vacation. This time we were livin' it up at the luxurious Fairmont Hotsprings Resort in B.C. for two nights.  It was a nice change of pace from our previous camping trip.  The boys lounged around in their pj's  and we enjoyed having the hot springs at our door step to soak it up whenever we wanted.

Oh and lets not forget about the robes...nothing says "luxury" like a nice soft terry cloth white robe.

But it wasn't just all about the rest and relaxation.  A little ways down the highway we found a hiking trail that followed along some hoodoos, so we strapped the boys on our backs and did a little exploring.

And the boys got to do some exploring at their level too...

Casey found a cell phone from the stone ages (it's a stone)...

Fun times!
