Feelin' hot hot hot

We had a lovely little weekend.  Our friends Manny and Elaine and their little guy Cody came for a visit from Calgary on Saturday.  We had lunch at the Iron Goat and then took a somewhat spontaneous trip to the Banff hot springs ("somewhat spontaneous" in the fact that we didn't plan on it but they brought their stuff with the idea of going, and our swimming bags have been packed and ready to go for the last week in hopes of making it to the springs one of these days...).   The boys enjoyed the water...although I think Casey was more excited about being in the women's change room.

Three little cuties.

Cody and Liam

Ahhhh three relaxed babies.
We had a lot of fun...wish we could do it again next weekend, but our friends are off on a great adventure overseas to Germany, France and Holland!  Totally jealous! :)

Have a great trip Manny, Elaine and Cody!

Sssssewing

Liam

Casey

Just a fun little sewing project I made for the boys.  I have so many fabric scraps, so this was a good way to make use of some of them.  I made the first snake way too big, so now there's a Mama and baby.  The boys actually love playing with them...especially with the baby one, it's more their size.

Have a good weekend!

A Little Update

Here's a little bit of what we've been up to these days...

  • Playing with socks...Casey has acquired a little bit of a fetish for them.

  • Thinking about baby proofing...Liam is on the verge of crawling.  He can get up on all fours and rock back and forth.  Casey is close behind...soon they'll be on the move and my life will become just that more busy!
  • Laughing lots!  These boys love to laugh, sometimes for no particular reason.  Laughing is a contagious thing, so when they laugh I laugh too.  :)
Casey
  • Enjoying our mountain surroundings and the sunny-not a cloud in the sky-days we've had.
Liam and Mama
  • Soaking up the warmth of the sun when it's too cold to go outside.

  • Cooking up big batches of baby food. My Mom found this great website that has some good info and lots of baby food recipes.  These boys are eight months old now and already eating us out of our home...I don't even want to think about what it will be like when they're teenagers (good thing for Costco!)
  • Excited about sewing.  I purchased some beautiful hand screen printed Lara Cameron fabric from etsy that came all the way from Australia ('cause I'm crazy like that) and I received it in the mail last week.  I'm so in love with it...but a little scared to start cutting it!
  • Enjoying this family day with my little family.  I'm so happy to have two beautiful babies and an amazing partner in my life.

Road Trip

Last week we went on a little skiing vacation with my parents to Kimberley B.C....although I'm not sure you can really call it a "ski vacation" we didn't end up skiing as much as we hoped, but it was still a nice little get away.  The boys were great little road trippers.  Kimberley is about three hours from Canmore, so we broke up the drive by stopping half way for a dip in the Radium hot springs.  Casey and Liam loved the warm water and had so much fun splashing around.  After the hot springs they slept like babies for the rest of the ride.

About five years ago, Rob and I spent two winters living in the little mountain town of Kimberley, so it was neat to go back and visit our old stomping grounds again.  My parents rented a cozy little ski in/ski out condo that had a sauna and outdoor hot tub...which was just what we needed after a day of skiing (or a day of taking care of two babies).

The day Rob and I hit the slopes was amazing.  We couldn't have asked for a better day.  The sun was shining and the snow conditions were perfect.  It had been a long time since I last skiied, so it felt good to get out there.  We had a lot of fun.

The trees on the mountain looked so cool, coated in snow...

We worked up an appetite after a few runs....nothing better than an apres ski big bowl of left over spaghetti.  Mmmm my Mom made the best spaghetti...apparently Casey thought so too.

So that was last week...this week it's back to making our own meals, maintaining the mess of this house and walking the dog...and missing those extra helping hands.

Happy Valentines Day

Ok, so I'm back from my blogging hiatus.   My parents were visiting from Ontario, and we went on a little skiing vacation in Kimberley B.C. it was a lot of fun and we had a great visit ...but more on that next time, it's Valentines Day today!

I love Valentines Day...when I was a kid I remember waking up in the morning and going into the kitchen to find little bowls of candy that my mom put out for us...cinnamon hearts, jelly beans, and chocolate hearts wrapped in red foil...as far as I'm concerned, there is no better way to start a day.  One time in grade school I guessed the closest number of jelly beans and won a big jar full of red, pink and white jelly beans...at least I think this happened, maybe it was just a dream, but I'm like 95 percent sure it really happened.   I loved going to school dressed in something red and exchanging those cute little valentine cards, so much fun!

I don't think this valentines day will involve a big jar of jelly beans, but that's ok...I'll just dream about them instead.  However, I did get a lovely gift from Rob and my three Valentines are taking me out for lunch today.  How luck am I?  And as a gift to myself I bought some new music (The Avett Brothers) from itunes which I've been playing on repeat all morning.   My parents (believe it or not) got me hooked on them...you know you have cool parents when you like their music and vice versa.

Hope you all have a Happy Valentines!
