All Bundled Up

Getting out the door has become quite the ordeal these days...it's always a process getting two little ones ready for the outside world, but now with the cold weather upon us there's all the bundling up to do which is usually accompanied by some flailing and a few ear piercing screams (from them, not me) and just when you think you're in the clear there's at least one more diaper to change to do.  Oh the days when we could head out bare foot and jacketless... When we do finally get outside though, they forgive me for "torturing" them and all is well again.  And their new winter coats (thanks to their Nana and Poppa) keep them toasty warm and happy (for the most part).

Stay warm!

Where the Wild Things Are

I wish it could be Halloween everyday...not just for the candy, but so that Casey and Liam could wear their costumes...they looked so cute!  Casey was a bear and Liam was a monkey.

Halloween night came and went in a hurry.  I had a whole family of pumkins to carve and of course they were left to the last minute.  While Rob was upstairs dressing the boys in their costumes (a process in itself), I worked away carving up a storm.

My crazy pumpkin family
With the pumpkins lit and the boys dressed we were ready for action.  We handed out candy to our neighbours (only two of them) and then went out to see a few more of our neighbour friends.

Woohoo!

It was a great night!  :)

Fall Photos

Here are some photos taken a little while back from those glorious goldeny autumn days....recently those days have turned into cold snowy wintery days that I'm just not quite ready for.

If only we had a yard with trees so they could jump in piles of leaves!  I loved doing that as a kid.  Maybe next fall we'll offer to rake somebodies yard...

Catching Up

Well, it's been a little while since my last post but here I am again.  We've been very busy and enjoying a lovely autumn season in the mountains.  On Thanksgiving weekend we took a drive down to Fernie to spend it with Rob's cousin's family.  It was a lot of fun but unfortunately I don't have many photos to share...in fact I only have one.  I misplaced my camera after the first night so this is the only picture I have...

Last week my friend Amanda was visiting from out of town and wanted to go for a hike.  The boys and I are always up for a good hike, the only catch is she had to carry one of them.  There's a trail just outside of Banff I've wanted to check out forever but never had the chance.  It leads you up the base of a mountain to a giant swing hung from a giant tree on a steep slope so that when you swing out you're high up over looking the trees and river below.  I had heard of the swing a few years ago from a girl I used to work with but I wasn't sure exactly where it was or how to get there until I recently found some info on the Internet about it.  Amanda was up for anything so we set out on our adventure in hopes of finding this amazing swing.

But we never did find the swing.  Actually we found the spot where it used to be but it was cut down.  As my Mom would say (and did say when I told her this story) it was a real "lunch bag let down".  It was still a beautiful hike though and fun adventure.

And in other news...this weekend Canmore was celebrating the Festival of the Eagles.  The boys got up close and personal with some owls.  So cool!

That's it for now, I think we're all caught up!

Autumn Has Fallen Upon Us

Last weekend we took full advantage of two beautiful autumn days.  The colours aren't quite at their peak yet but it's getting close.  Fall in the mountains doesn't last long (just like summer) so you really have to soak up everyone ounce of it while it's here.

On Saturday we loaded up the bikes and the chariot and headed to Kananaskis.  There are some really great paved bike trails out there that we've been wanting to ride all summer but hadn't until now.  It was the perfect way to enjoy the colours.

The trail led us to the beautiful Wedge Pond, so we stopped for a snack and a play before making our way back.

Sunday was another super nice fall day.  We went for a hike to check out the views from above.

Then we had a lovely little picnic in the park and met up with our friends Manny, Elaine and Cody who drove out from Calgary for the day.

Playing the Ball Ladder game...Casey loved it.
