The Simple Things In Life

There are two things these boys live for; being naked and cardboard boxes.  Put the two together and you've got yourself some happy little babies.

How simple is that?

Hope you can find some joy in the simple things in life today too.

Have a good day!

Afternoon Tea

So instead of having a typical "Bridal Shower" which usually involves playing silly games and some sort of hat made from bows (or maybe that's a baby shower?) my wonderful friend Chloe hosted a lovely afternoon English tea party in my honour.  She went above and beyond, baking up a storm, creating all sorts of English style goodies.  The outcome of her hard work was scrump-diddly-umptious!

Mango scones and berry scones, carrot cupcakes, cookies and three types of little sandwiches.
And of course there was the tea.  Several lovely kinds to choose from and old china tea cups to sip from which made it just that much more fun and special.

After enjoying the tea and crumpets, it was time to put our creative caps on.  Instead of those "bridal shower games" I mentioned, Chloe came up with the idea to do a craft. So we made felt flower pins...or at least that's how it started out.

Once the scissors started snippin', the felt was flyin', and those creative juices were a flowin'.  By the end there were all sorts of creations, each one as unique and beautiful as the person who made it.

It was a lovely afternoon of friends, food and felt.

Thanks to all who came and a great big thank you to Chloe for hosting.

Another Year Older

Well, I had a wonderful birthday, despite the rainy weather.  I was greeted in the morning with a couple of gifts to start off the day.  Then my friend June took me out for lunch and Rob took me out for dinner...no dishes for this birthday girl!  Chloe made me the best carrot cake in Canada, so I invited a few more friends over to enjoy it with us.

It was a good day to turn 29.

Rob's Birthday

Rob's Birthday has come and gone, which means my birthday is next...tomorrow in fact!  We celebrated Rob's birthday doing what he wanted to do, which involved hiking a mountain of course.  He had his sights set on getting to the top of "China Man's Peak", but due to weather and timing we opted for Tunnel Mountain; it's a much easier hike and only 3 1/2 km round trip, with nice views over looking the town of Banff.

At the top of the mountain, Casey thought it would be a nice gesture to carve Daddy's name in the rock.

After working up an appetite, we then went out for some pizza back in Canmore at the Rock Mountain Flat Bread Co.

It was a fun day!

Happy June!

June just came out of nowhere it seems...what ever happened to May?  That's ok, I'm excited for June, we get to celebrate a whole lot of birthdays this month.  Rob's is tomorrow, mine is a week from now and the boys will turn one on the 16th....phew, that's a lot of Gemini's for one family.

So my next project I have on the go is sewing a string of party flags for all the celebrating we're about to do...hopefully I can get them done by tomorrow!

And on top of all the partying we'll be doing this month, we'll also be very busy prepping for an even bigger party to come in July.  After seven years together Rob and I are finally going to make it official and tie the knot July 9th.

Happy June to you all! :)
