Family Day

Well despite the fact that Daddy had to work on Family Day we still had a great day.  In the morning we had some lovely friends over to play and enjoyed some delicious baked goods they brought.  Then, in the afternoon the boys and I went outside for an adventure in the woods, to bask in the sun and play in the fresh snow that just arrived the day before.

We made a new friend in the woods, but he needed some sort of hat.  We made the short trek back home to find a few options for our new buddy...

Perfect!  Our friend loved his hat and he was so thankful...

Our new friend had a great idea for a special winter treat...

Things got a little silly after that...

Time to go now...Bye-bye friend, see you next time!

 Happy Family Day

On Valentines

This is a little late but here was our Valentines...

There were conflicting work schedules so I didn't get to see much of my big Valentine so it was a good thing I had these two little cuties to love me up (and vice versa)...

There were cupcakes...

There were flowers...

There were even Valentine treats for Jack, that lucky dog...

And there was love...

That's all you need.

Christmas In Canmore

It was a sad day today taking down the tree and all the decorations.  I miss Christmas already.  But we're moving on and looking forward to all the good things 2013 will bring.

We had a merry little Christmas this year in Canmore just the four us (five counting the dog!).  Thank goodness for FaceTime so that we could still share a moment with our family far away.
The boys had a so much fun opening their presents christmas morning and I think Rob and I had even more fun watching them.

Leading up to Christmas day the boys weren't totally sold on the whole Santa thing.  After seeing Santa at the mall, Liam's new phrase was "I say no to Christmas"...he was singing a different tune come Christmas morning!  About a week before Christmas they both had picked out a very specific Thomas character that they wanted Santa to bring them, and sure enough Santa delivered...ya can't say 'no' to that!

Here's a few of the many great moments we had...

We spent an awesome Christmas Eve at the Banff Springs Hotel Lounge where we enjoyed drinks and appies and danced the night away to some live bluesy christmas music.

Revelstoke

On Thanksgiving Monday we headed to Revelstoke B.C. to enjoy a family mountain retreat.  It started out a little rough- after driving four hours we arrived at our cabin only to discover it hadn't been cleaned since the previous users.  Since the owner lived in Edmonton and the cleaner was most likely feasting on turkey, we took matters into our own hands...That meant rolling up our sleeves, grabbing the toilet brush and getting to work.

The next morning we awoke to a beautiful sunny day.  We drove downtown to my most favourite cafe- The Modern Bakeshop & Cafe and drowned our frustrations from the previous night in yummy lattes and goodies.  All was good again.  We spent the whole rest of the day playing outside...

{Time out for short nap} ...And to the beach.

Wake up cuddles...

What a fun filled day! To top it off we went to the Rec Centre for a swim in the evening.
The next day we went back to the cafe to get our last fill of goodies and then had some park play time and a short hike to get some energy out before the long drive home again.

Maple leaves!! We don't get these in Canmore!  So nice to see!

It was a great trip!

(The owner of the cabin offered us a full refund plus discount on our next stay for our troubles which was even above what we expected.  We're looking forward to hopefully another trip sometime this winter.)

Our Easter Sunday

Well I sort of slacked off a little on Easter this year but it was still a great day.  I meant to dye eggs using natural dying methods (but that didn't happen) and I really wanted to make these little chocolate birds nest treats (but that didn't happen either).  I only got as far as buying the supplies.  The good intentions were there but the time and energy were not.  Oh well!

They boys could care less about naturally dyed eggs anyway.  They sure liked the plastic kind filled with treats though! They caught onto the whole concept of an Easter egg hunt pretty quickly.  We would sometimes have to point them in the right direction, but they knew exactly how to crack that egg open to get the goods inside once they found it.

The Easter bunny also left some eggs for all of the neighbourhood kids at the park down the street, so we headed out for a walk to find some more goodies.

Hope everyone had a good Easter and is enjoying the start of spring!
