Tea party

I had such an enjoyable morning with my two favourite twin boys.  We took Jack for a walk along the creek picking dandelions along the way and ended up at the communitea cafe for a little tea party.  I asked for some tea cups for the boys juice and I enjoyed my latte.

So, so much fun!

P.s. Casey asked for short hair like Liam today!  I'm giving it a few days to see if he changes his mind....:)

Enjoy the sun!

Mama's Day

My Mother's Day was extra special.  I was showered with gifts and love, went out for a yummy breakfast and to top it off I got to meet Momo!

On Monday the preschool had a Mother's Day tea party which was so sweet.  The boys made me beautiful heart bracelets and a jewellery box and the class preformed a few songs for us and then we all enjoyed some tea and blueberry cake that the kids had made.

Momo and his buddy Andrew stopped in Canmore that day on their book tour and we happened to see them a little earlier than expected at the cafe where we were having breakfast.

A neat thing Andrew does on his book tour is he takes a picture of Momo hiding in your town and hides a red envelope containing a free book voucher in the same spot.  Guess who found the red envelope?!

Such a lucky Mom I am to have these two super-fun little guys and one amazing husband to share them with.

The Twins Turn Two

My baby boys are growing up so fast!  They turned two years old last weekend.  We had a nice little  gathering of friends at the park to celebrate.  There were bubbles, blanket tossing, trucks and double the cake! (There was also the odd melt down too, but we won't go there!)

If you didn't make it, here's what you missed...

Put your party hats on!
And did I mention bikes?  Even though they came with us to buy them at the store they were still surprised and excited to get them for their birthday.

Birthday Bikes!

Fun was had by all!

The Party

Busy times these days with a wedding coming up in a couple weeks, but I have finally found a chance to share with you some special moments from the boys birthday party last week...

The birthday boys! Liam and Casey

It was a really fun BBQ with lots of good friends to celebrate our little guys turning one.

Happy Birthday Casey & Liam!

My babies were born on this night last year.  Casey was a mere 4 and half pounds and Liam just under 5.  It was love at first (and second) sight.  I've never really thought about a birthday before as I have this one.  It was always just about having a party and eating cake... until today, looking back on my experience of the birth of my babies.  For me today is about so much more.  It's the day I became a Mother and brought these two beautiful boys into this world.  It's the best day ever.

The Simple Things In Life

There are two things these boys live for; being naked and cardboard boxes.  Put the two together and you've got yourself some happy little babies.

How simple is that?

Hope you can find some joy in the simple things in life today too.

Have a good day!

December Already?

Christmas is just around the corner, time to fill up the ipod with Christmas tunes, dig out the decorations and watch National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation .  This time of year is always so busy, but even more so with twins!  There's so much sewing, crafting and baking to be done.  Oh yeah, and Christmas shopping of course.  We went to Calgary on Wednesday for that purpose...as well as to exchange the other snow suit, so now that little dilemma is over with and Casey will be toasty warm this winter too.

Yay I have a snow suit!
While we were at the mall in Calgary, the boys got to meet Santa for the first time.  I wish I would have dressed them a little cuter (all the other children were decked out in there finest Christmas outfits).  But the timing was right, so joggers would have to do...Santa didn't judge.

I over heard them asking for their two front teeth.  Casey Left Liam Right.
While we were in line to see Santa we bumped into our friends Manny and Elaine who were getting pictures of their baby Cody.  So after Santa we all went out for a nice dinner.  We couldn't have planned a better evening if we tried.  It was a perfect random encounter.

Hope everyone is getting into the festive spirit.

Babies It's Cold Outside

The boys have survived their first cold snap.  It got down into the negative 30's last week...brrrr.  So we haven't gotten out much lately.  We would have been a little better prepared for going out in the cold if we had proper snow suits for the boys.  Actually, we had the snow suits, they just couldn't wear them.  Just days before this frozen storm arrived we had purchased two perfectly cozy warm snow suits, one we bought in Calgary and one in Banff.  Same suit, different colour...and both the wrong size.  So there we were, stuck inside the house which seemed liked an eternity with two snow suits they couldn't wear.  Pretty soon cabin fever started to set in...there's only so many cookies you can bake.  So I bundled up my little bundles like they've never been bundled before and we braved the cold.

Jack pulling his weight.  He's good help on the up hills.

Since then it has finally warmed up.  And we've exchanged one of two snow suits.  Looks like Liam has claimed the orange one and Casey will get the navy one once we get back to Calgary.

Now time to enjoy some fresh air (the kind that doesn't freeze your eyelashes shut).

Nappies

We've started a nightly bath routine in an attempt to relax the boys before bed time and in hopes for longer sleeps through the night (and well, they kinda need a bath after all the poop, drool and spit up they do in one day).  Apparently it relaxes Casey...after his bath I put him down on a blanket with some toys while I jumped in the tub with Liam and he fell fast asleep right on the bathroom floor.

Then the next day I put them in the crib while I had a shower and when I got out I found them both sleeping ever so peacefully together.  It always surprises me when they fall asleep on their own...no rocking, swinging, or lullaby's...who knew they could just fall asleep!

Casey and Liam

Now we just have to work on that sleeping through the night thing!

Winter Has Arrived

A winter storm has forced us to hunker down and snuggle up.  It's cold, snowy and windy out there and we want no part of it.  So we've been keeping warm indoors and doing what babies and Mama's should be doing...laying bare bummed by the fire (the babies, not me...that would be weird), playing guitar, and baking cookies of course.  This winter weather doesn't look like it's going away anytime soon, so I guess we better get used to it.

Best whole wheat chocolate chip cookies ever

I found a really yummy recipe for whole wheat chocolate chip cookies (click here).  Just a bit of a healthy twist on a classic comfort food. I couldn't even tell they were made with whole wheat flour...although I guess with enough butter and sugar you can make anything taste good.

Stay warm!

Happy Halloween!

The boys first Halloween!  How fun! ...But what to wear?  I wanted to dress the boys up for their first Halloween, but didn't want to spend a fortune on costumes that they would only wear for one day...more like 10 minutes actually.  So last week I took a trip to Banff with a couple of friends and found some really cute animal toques which I thought could pass as costumes, plus they could wear them all winter (and probably next since they're a little big).

Casey the Owl and Liam the Bear

Hoo who are you?

Grr!

The hats weren't enough though.  I had another idea to hollow out two big pumpkins and stick them inside so only their heads and arms were sticking out...but we waited til the last minute for that idea and ended up with only one pumpkin that wasn't big enough to fit a baby inside.  So I made a funky Jack-o-lantern instead.

We made one last desperate attempt at finding more pumkins at Shoppers Drug Mart.  They didn't have any...but they did have cheap costumes for pets...hmmm, that could work!

Casey the friendly ghost

Little Liam my little pumpkin

Haha it was good for a laugh...too bad they wouldn't fit Jack.
After all that costume stuff we were ready to hand out some candy, but only had two kids come by...oh well, more candy for us!

Happy Halloween Everyone!
